As the Lakeland Youth Symphony’s 50th Anniversary Gala
draws near, I invite you to consider the significance of
reaching this remarkable milestone. Rooted in the desire of
a small group of parents to offer a unique educational
experience outside the schools, our primary purpose has
always been to enrich the lives of children through music.
In the past fifty years, literally thousands of young
musicians’ lives have been touched by the magic of the
Lakeland Youth Symphony.
On March 28, our community of musicians, families, alumni
and friends will come together to honor Lakeland’s heritage
and look back at the last fifty years. The evening will
also mark the beginning of a new Lakeland tradition: a
scholarship fund for students who cannot afford to
participate in our program.
The Lakeland Youth Symphony Scholarship Program can only
become a reality with your help. I ask you to make a
financial contribution to the scholarship fund so that we
can open our doors to less privileged children who will
benefit just as your own children have. There are many ways
to contribute, as described in this newsletter. Your active
participation will help our community grow and flourish and
will allow us to bring music into the lives of even more
young people for the next fifty years.
On behalf of all of us at the Lakeland Youth Symphony, I
thank you for sharing your time, your treasure, and most of
all your talented and wonderful children with us and I look
forward to seeing you at the Gala!
