The "StringAid" benefit concert and winter festival sponsored by the Lakeland Youth Symphony was a tremendous success! On December 10th, the 3 orchestras and 2 Suzuki classes donned their new LYS t-shirts, grabbed their instruments and music, and found their way to St. Mary's Prep in Denville. Not only did the young people entertain the diverse audience with holiday favorites, but they enjoyed a fun time themselves with face-painting by "Shorty the Clown" and lots of sweet treats from the Denville vendors who sold their wares during the concert.
At last week's town council meeting, Denville residents Adelma Ramadan, the fundraiser's chairperson, her daughter Sarah, and Emma Han, another student from the Lakeland Strings Orchestra, presented a check for $1685 to Denville Mayor Thomas Andes. The Mayor gratefully accepted the check on behalf of Denville's Hurricane Relief Fund and expressed his gratitude to Lakeland Youth Symphony for its efforts to support the community.
