Jonathan Harris

Program Manager

Jonathan Harris is the Program Manager of the Lakeland Youth Symphony, working closely with the Artistic Director and Board of Trustees to support student musicians, streamline operations, and promote a vibrant and inclusive orchestral experience. With over 25 years of experience as a music educator, ensemble director, and arts administrator in northern New Jersey, Jonathan brings a deep commitment to youth music education.

Since 2014, Jonathan has served as the Supervisor of Related Arts at Northern Valley Regional High School, overseeing the performing arts, world language, and family and consumer sciences departments. In this role, arts education offerings have expanded through new courses and interdisciplinary programming. He has also previously supervised the visual arts and business education departments, further broadening his perspective on the role of creativity and innovation in education.

Jonathan’s classroom experience spans all ages and levels, with 20 years spent as a teacher, primarily as Director of Instrumental Music at Northern Valley Demarest, where he led bands and orchestras and fostered a culture of musical excellence.

Highly active in the northern New Jersey music education community, Jonathan has served on the executive boards of the Music Educators of Bergen County Inc. (MEBCI) and the North Jersey School Music Association (NJSMA), and is a past president of the New Jersey Music Administrators Association (NJMAA). He holds degrees from William Paterson University (BM), the University of Connecticut (MM), and the University of Cincinnati (MEd).

An active tubist, Jonathan performs with several local orchestras and ensembles. He resides in Denville with his wife Lindsay, their two daughters, and their Old English Sheepdog.
