Loni Bach

Preludes & Lakeland Strings Conductor

Loni Bach is the conductor of the Lakeland Strings Orchestra. She recently retired from being the orchestra director at Sparta High School, where she taught for 31 years. She attended the University of Michigan where she received her Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance and her Masters of Music in Strings Education. She has also been very involved with the New Jersey Region I orchestral division where she has served as orchestra chair, conductor of the junior region orchestra in 2008 and 2022, and hosted many rehearsals and concerts. Loni has been awarded the NJ-ASTA Classroom Teacher of the Year award as well as the Sussex County Arts in Education award.  Loni served as the president of the New Jersey American String Teacher Association. In her “free” time, Loni is an active freelance cellist and serves as the principal cellist of the New Sussex Symphony and has a private cello studio in Mendham. Outside of her musical life, Bach is a proud mother of her daughter Jessica (a talented violinist!) who also graduated from the University of Michigan and is an ICU nurse in Philadelphia - Go Blue!
